Security Eye is a versatile surveillance software that turns a computer into a powerful security system that helps you monitor your home, office or any other place. It includes several features that convert your computer into a complete security system that is easy to use.

Using Security Eye

The installer prompted us to install Xvid MPEG-4 Codec, which was required for the surveillance software to work effectively. It gave us the option to choose the installation directory for the codec, but we decided to use the default choice.

It is also possible to install the software on a remote computer so long as there is an IP camera installed in a target place, which the software will use over the internet.

When we launched the program, it opened a settings window in front of the main window. The window let us select the cameras that we wanted to use. We could use both IP and web cameras, and we could connect up to 64 cameras simultaneously. The software supported many brands and models.

We could let Security Eye scan our local network and automatically add detected cameras or add them manually by selecting their brands and models and entering their IP addresses and ports. If we had a camera that required authentication, we could add username and password.

Other things that we configured from the settings window included detection and recording options, alarm settings, email and SMS notification and scheduler. Once we had made our desired configurations and closed the settings window, we used the tools on the upper part of the main program window to perform a task. For example, we could start monitoring or recording.

Toolbars on the upper side of the main program window allowed us to control the program and manage connected cameras. The grid of cameras covered the main area of the user interface. The area displayed videos from the connected cameras in real time. We could select a camera with the cursor and drag it onto another cell. We could also change the number of cells in the grid.

Messages appeared on the lower part of the interface informing us about the actions taken, including their respective times and dates. The software integrated a media player where we could view recorded videos and pictures. If we had many recordings, we could specify the desired date range.

The program supported a motion detection tool that used a video frame analyzing algorithm. We configured it as we wanted to avoid false alerts. When it detected motion, it sent a text message or email with attached pictures based on the specified configurations. We could also set it to turn on a siren.
