PK Finder 1.3

You may have lost your Windows product key or would like to retrieve it for various reasons. May be you would like to re-install your operating system. You can locate the product key in your system registry, but this requires advanced knowledge and more time. Thankfully, you can use PK Finder to quickly recover your Windows product key and copy or save it.

Using PK Finder

There are installer and portable versions of the application, and this review focuses on the latter. We extracted the application files into a folder where we ran it directly. We needed Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.6.2 for the application to run. Other system requirements included a minimum of 80 MB RAM, at least 20 MB free hard disc space and Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

PK Finder had a small simple window that allowed us to scan for the product key with a single mouse click. It took a few seconds scanning our system before displaying the installed edition of Windows and the required product key.

The "File" menu allowed us to save the displayed product key as a text file. When we wanted to use the product key immediately, we copied it into the Clipboard ready for pasting at the required destination.

The "Tools" menu let us access the Settings window from where we configured the application to suit our preferences. We could change the theme settings and enable or disable automatic updates.

Conclusion

PK Finder is a simple, lightweight application that helps users to recover the Windows product key quickly. The application allows you to export the key to a text file or copy it to the Clipboard. Please note that you can use the application only on a genuine copy of Windows, and it only works on a readable storage device.
