MTS Player 1.0

MTS video files are high definition digital video camera AVCHD (Advanced Video Coding High Definition) formatted videos. AVCHD is the optical disc compression technology used in high quality capable professional level camcorders for high definition MPEG-4/H AVC.264 video encoding. It supports both Dolby Digital 5.1-channel AC-3 and PCM7.1 audio compression and, since its introduction, has been steadily increasing in popularity due to the growing demand for high definition video.

The MTS Player for Windows requires no additional video codecs to play .mts, .m2ts, and .m2t files. The free video player is easy to use and by far the most convenient way to view and enjoy MTS files.

Download and install the application to open the streamlined wide screen graphical user interface. The Windows menu bar for the 'File', 'Playback' and 'Help' menus is at the top and, like any other video player, the video start, stop and pause and progress time bars are located at the bottom.

The 'File' Menu simply contains 'Open Video' to access Explorer to locate the required .mts, .m2ts or .m2t file, 'Close Video' and 'Exit' controls. You can also open Explorer with the Ctrl 'O' shortcut. You'll find all your other control functions under the 'Playback' menu, keeping the viewing panel completely uncluttered. Hotkeys, however, can also be used for playing controls.

Shortcut keys are:

  • Ctrl + P for Play/Pause
  • Ctrl + S for Stop
  • Ctrl + and - for Volume
  • Ctrl + M for Mute/Unmute
  • Ctrl + F for Full Screen

A 'Subtitle File' for access to multi-language subtitles and 'Take Snapshot' functions are also available from the 'Playback' menu, as well as looping playback ability. The 'Help' menu provides a link to take you to the mtsplayer.com website for quick reference to controls and information on the MTS format.

There are other ways to view MTS files on your Windows computer. They can sometimes be converted to MPG or AVI in Windows Media Player or, failing that, WMV. If all else fails, you can locate and download an MTS converter which, of course, you'll have to do if you need to edit the file. However, if you simply want to view the video, MTS Player is the way to go. The lightweight, quick to install free video player provides you with an uncomplicated way to view MTS videos without having to resort to conversion attempts that don't work or downloading a converter.

The free video player from MTSPlayer.com is compatible with Windows 7 and higher, and requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or later.
