Have you ever experienced the frustration of trying to access a website from where you really wanted to get some important information only to get a response that the website is only available to people in a different region than yours? Fortunately, there are tools you can use to circumvent such restriction, such as Freegate. The free proxy software gives you unrestricted and fast Internet access without compromising your security.
Using Freegate
We simply launched Freegate directly from the folder where we saved the executable file, as it was a portable program. Once we had read and accepted the user agreement, the software displayed a control window where we configured the way we wanted it to work. We could choose whether we wanted all websites to go through the Freegate proxy or connect to the ones in China directly, which was the default option. We also choose to only allow connections to websites on security white list through the free proxy server.
By default, the control window opens only during the initial launch, but later changes can be made via the Settings window. The main program window displays the image of a dove with a branch in its mouth on the upper right corner.
The program featured only a few buttons and a space for displaying some information. When the program started, it displayed information that it was connecting to servers and then stated that it had connected to seven servers at port 8580, Tunnel (A).
The Settings button allowed us to make more configurations than the ones we did during the initial launch. For example, we could change the default local proxy port, tunnel and proxy mode. However, we did not need to make any configuration for the program to work.
Conclusion
If you want a simple way of accessing websites that are blocked because of your region or some other reason, Freegate will help you out. The free proxy software will help you access overseas websites as fast as your local ones without the need to tinker with any settings. Please note that the program works with Internet Explorer.
